- HSBB stands for High Speed Broadband delivering bandwidth at network speeds of 10Mbps and above through fixed line only as compared with normal broadband (Broadband for General Public – BBGP) delivered at network speeds ranging from 384Kbps to less than 10Mbps through fixed line (DSL) and wireless mode (3G/HSDPA, WiMax, WiFi).

3. How to subscribe HSBB?
4. I understand that HSBB has 3 products, HSI, Voice & IPTV. Can I subscribe any one of it?- HSBB can be subscribed at selected TM point outlets, phone registration to our Service Operations Center (SOC) and other channels that will be announced during HSBB commercial launch in late Q1 2010.
5. Does HSBB offer VOBB or normal TM fixed line?- HSBB packages come with the Triple Play service.
6. Do I need a special telephone set for HSBB Voice service?- HSBB packages will offer normal TM fixed line service (example 03-XXXXXXX numbering) with special call rates.
7. Which areas are served by HSBB?- No. TM will provide a free telephone set.
8. I am a business applicant, can I subscribe for HSBB?- Please refer to UniFi coverage page
9. Is there any service level guarantee for HSBB?- Yes, you may subscribe to our HSBB Business packages.
10. Is there any FUP?- Yes for business customers, subject to package offerings.
11. What are the technologies used?- Yes. Fair Usage Policy (FUP) is a standard practice globally. TM is currently looking into this possibility.
12. How fast is HSBB?- FTTx, ETTx, and VDSL2.
13. What is VOBB?- Bandwidth delivered at network access speeds of 10Mbps and above.
14. What is IPTV?- VOBB is voice over broadband most likely using 0154 numbering.
15. For HSI (High Speed Internet), do I need a special modem?- Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) is TV delivered over a broadband network.
16. What is VOD?- TM will provide all necessary equipment (s) to deliver the service.
17. If I am paying for 10Mbps will I get 10Mbps speed?- Video On Demand (VOD) is a channel or library of videos and movies that can be watched as and when you require. You can Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind and Forward them as you wish exactly like a DVD player.
- TM is committed to deliver at average of 80% most of the time or higher during non-peak hours of the subscribed speed within Telekom Malaysia (TM) network only.
18. If I am using my desktop PC at the same time I am watching IPTV, will there be any drop in the bandwidth speeds I receive?
19. Is my fibre line a dedicated line (point-to-point connection) and not shared?- No. There will be a dedicated bandwidth or Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) for IPTV.
- No. HSBB service is not a point-to-point dedicated line similar to Leased Line connection. It is a shared connection like other mass market broadband services.
20. If there are many people using the service at one time, will I experience a drop in the speed I receive in my port?
21. Will I have to pay for HSBB installation and how much will it be?- HSBB Internet connection is based on best effort basis and it is not a dedicated connection (means, it is shared). However, TM will responsible to ensure answer on Question 17 is catered.
22. Will I have to bear the cost of the CPE?- Yes. There will be some installation charges. However, what those charges are will depend on packages subscribed or promotions running at that time.
23. If I am to pay for the CPE, is there any warranty?- No, all packages will come with free CPE to enable the service.
24. Will I be responsible for the CPE?- Any CPE provided or sold by TM will have a minimum guarantee of 1 year.
25. If there is anything wrong with the CPE, who will repair the CPE? Who will pay for it?- TM will be responsible for the CPE during the 1 year warranty period, however after this, the responsibility for CPE maintenance will be with the customer.
- TM will repair and replace CPE accordingly during warranty period. Outside of warranty period, customer will be charged accordingly.
26. If there is any fault on the service, who will be responsible for the service restoration and will I have to pay for TM’s visit to my home?
- TM will undertake an end-to-end investigation on the fault. If the fault lies with TM, TM will undertake restoration work at no cost to the customer. However, if the fault lies on the customer’s end, TM reserves the right to charge accordingly.
27. If I am getting a different service provider providing me HSBB services, who will be responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting? Do I call TM or the service provider? Who will charge for the service?
28. Are you going to use a contract for HSBB service?- The service provider will be fully responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting.

29. If I were to switch to HSBB service, what will happen to my contact obligation on Streamyx?
- TM will waive any penalty imposed upon successful HSBB service activation.
30. Will there be a minimum subscription period for the service and penalty for early termination?
31. Any rebates for service outages and for not meeting the minimum guarantees?- Yes, depends on the packages subscribed.
32. Will I be able to receive HD quality transmission on my normal TV?- TM reserves the right to provide rebates accordingly.
33. Why are you not rolling out the service in other areas outside of the Klang Valley?- No. You will have to get a HD enabled TV.
- TM’s initial focus for HSBB deployment will be on those areas identified to contribute significantly to national GDP.
34. If I want the service in my area but it is not being covered by HSBB roll-out, how can I get the service?
- You may register your interest which will serve as a means to gauge demand in your respective area. TM will use this information to analyze feasibility of providing the service to your area.
